Creating Windows Shortcuts for Info*Engine

This screen provides all general options that are available to create shortcut preferences and modify environment settings for your Windows system.

Shortcut Location(s)—identifies shortcut locations. You can start the application from your desktop, from the Start menu, from a program folder within the Start menu, or from any combination these locations. Select one or more of the following options for your shortcut locations:

• Desktop—creates the shortcut icon and adds it to your desktop.
• Start menu—creates the shortcut and adds it to the Start menu. For Info*Engine installations, you do not specify the directory location in the Startup Directory field. The location from which Info*Engine starts is defined through the installation.
• Program folder—creates a command shortcut. PTC.Setup adds it to the Windows Start menu in the specified Programs menu folder.

Program Folder—identifies the name of the Programs menu folder to use. This option is only used when you select the Program folder check box. You can specify the name of a new folder or you can select an existing folder from the drop-down list.

Environment Preferences —Modifies variable settings that are used in your environment. The Modify system environment for all users option appends the Info*Engine bin directory path to the system Path variable. This option also creates or updates the system WT_HOME variable, setting it to the Info*Engine installation directory. Administrator privileges are necessary to make these system changes. The Modify current user's environment only option makes similar changes to user Path and WT_HOME variables instead of to the system variables.
